Tanzania Equity Markets | 7 Sep 2015 : Bear reappears on DSE, DES All share index 0.43% lower
DAR ES SALAAM Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity markets opened the week on a negative sentiment and the equity market capitalization went about TZS 93 billion (about US$44 million) to end at TZS 21,784 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,877 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Still in the bear mood, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) sagged by 10.72 points or 0.43 percent to end at 2,487.29 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index fell by 2.90 points or 0.06 percent to close at 4,653.32 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index plunged by 1.74 percent or 52,83 points to settle at 2,983.51 points. Industrial & Allied sector index increased by 0.67 percent or 41.85 points to end at 6,309.10 points but Commercial services sector index remained steady to end at 4,016.04.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 69.62 million from 89,830 shares traded in 46 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,989.45 million from 316,112 shares traded in 76 deals. CRDB had 86,279 shares traded in 26 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 590 shares in 3 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 2,160 shares in 12 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 261 shares traded in 3 deals. DCB Commercial Bank traded 540 shares in 2 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with five gainers and five losers. Kenya Airways emerged as the top gainers after adding 9.09 percent with a closing price of TZS 120 and DCB Commercial Bank improved by 1.67 percent to settle at TZS 610. Tanzania Breweries Limited ended at TZS 15,260 after gained 1.06 percent and National Media Group increased by 0.30 percent to trade at TZS 3,310.00. Acacia Mining Limited recorded TZS 7,890 by adding 0.13 percent.
On the other hand, CRDB Tanzania sagged by 2.50 percent at TZS 390.00, East Africa Breweries plummeted by 1.92 percent to trade at TZS 5,620, National Microfinance Bank sagged by 1.38 percent to end at TZS 2,860 and KBC Group closed at TZS 930 after a reduction of 1.06 percent. After losing 0.59 percent Jubilee Holdings Limited price ended at TZS 10,150.00.
